How is the retail sector developing in Chinese city centers?

The growing interest in communal shopping experiences is influencing the redesign of city centers in China. Urban development, lifestyle centers and sustainability are taking center stage. As a result, large retail properties in Chinese cities are focusing on mixed use. A wide range of shopping and dining options as well as interactive entertainment and leisure facilities offer a broad spectrum for consumers. Ecological and integrated center for a healthy city: MixC Wenzhou

What characterizes the "living room of Wenzhou"?

MixC is a chain of high-end shopping centers in China. MixC Wenzhou, located in the city's riverside business district, is an urban commercial center designed by architecture firm Lead8. The aim of the project is to create an urban landmark that connects commercial spaces and recreational areas. The concept integrates bridges, paths and courtyards on several levels to harmonize city and landscape. The shopping center is intended to function as a "living room of the city", a meeting place where people can meet and exchange ideas.

Another aim of the project is integration into the city's infrastructure: fast and convenient access to public transport was designed for this purpose, as MixC Wenzhou is intended to function as a hub around the clock. Ecological aspects were also given high priority: Energy-efficient building solutions, air circulation systems and green building materials are intended to promote the long-term "health" of the city.

Combining leisure, food and shopping – strengthening the community: Livat Xi'an

Livat Xi'an as a third place: the concept explained in two sentences.

In April 2024, Ingka Centres will open Livat Xi'an, its ninth shopping centre in China, in the city of Xi'an. This new centre – with IKEA as the largest tenant – combines retail, dining, entertainment and lifestyle activities. The centre combines Nordic design with the rich cultural history of Xi'an and offers visitors an inspiring environment with digital touchpoints that enhance the shopping experience.
